Biography

Dr. Adam Renberg is an Assistant Professor of Theology at Anderson University and its seminary, Clamp Divinity School. He completed an undergraduate degree in biblical studies and pastoral ministry, and two postgraduate degrees—a master’s in theological ethics and a Ph.D. in historical theology—at the University of St. Andrews, Scotland. Prior to his full-time appointment to AU, Dr. Renberg served as an associate pastor at Capstone Church, Anderson.

Dr. Renberg's research is primarily focused on historical theology, particularly in Christological and Trinitarian debates in the patristic period. He is also interested and dedicated to connecting these historical discussions to contemporary ones in the church and the academy.

He is married to another AU faculty member, Dr. Lynneth Miller Renberg, a medieval historian serving in the history department. Together, they have a young daughter, Lilliana, and a dog. They enjoy reading, gardening, and hiking throughout the Upstate.

Why I teach at Anderson University:

I teach historical and systematic theology at AU because of its dedication to rigorous intellectual engagement with the Scriptures and tradition on the one hand and its pastoral emphasis on the other. Anderson University creates a unique environment by marrying pastoral and academic theology, which facilitates a culture of faith, compassion, and growth.
